If you wish to adopt one of our birds the first thing you need to do is fill out an adoption application. The form can be downloaded and printed from the page labled “forms”. Complete the application and return it to us either by email or the PO Box.
After we have your completed adoption application and review it,, one of our team will contact you to set up a brief home visit. If all goes well with the home visit you could then schedule an appointment with the foster family of the bird you’d like to adopt. If you do not have a particular bird in mind, our team will work with you and guide you in chosing the bird that’s right for you. You may also visit with some of our available birds at Bonnie’s Birds, 4300 Kings Hwy., Pt. Charlotte.
Now it would be time to sign the adoption contract and take your new companion home! Some of our birds come with their cages, others do not. If the bird came to us with a cage it will go to it’s new home with it’s cage, otherwise you will need to purchase a cage prior to taking your bird home. We do have set adoption fees for each bird, they are very reasonable and nowhere near the price of buying a bird from a breeder or pet store. Our birds are “visually” healthy and adopted out as such. The adoptive family is expected to take their new companion for a baseline vet check upon completetion of the adoption process.
Our team is always available for support and questions after the adoption. One of our members will contact you intermittently after the adoption to make sure things are going smoothly.
